The family of a Monaghan man killed in a 2011 hit and run have reissued an appeal on what would be his 30th birthday.

Fintan Traynor was 20 years old when he was hit by a car near Clontibret and died.

In the early hours of Sunday June 26th, 2011, Fintan Traynor was killed while walking home from a night out in Castleblayney.

He was struck on the Lemgare Road, which links the Clontibret and Annyalla with Derrynoose and Keady.

Gardai believe that a 1995 to 2001 model Audi A4 was involved in the collision where the driver fled the scene.

The front lower portion of the air vent grille of a car matching this description was found at the scene.

On what would have been Fintan’s 30th birthday, his family have reissued an appeal for information, saying they “are heartbroken at not knowing what happened” that night.

Anyone with information, no matter how small or insignificant they might this it is, is being asked to forward it to the authorities.

Crimestoppers has also provided a reward for information in this regard which leads to the recovery of the vehicle and identification and prosecution of the driver.
