A number of parades will be taking place across the region to mark St Patrick's Day on Sunday.
A very popular and longstanding parade taking place locally is the Monaghan Town parade.
Speaking to Northern Sound the Cathaoirleacht of the Monaghan Municipal District, Cllr Cathy Bennett says its certainly a day for all the family. She said that from 1.30 on Sunday the Drumlin Yarn spinners Storytelling session will be held in the Market House.
Francis McCarron and Paddy Sherry will entertain with tales from Irish myth and legend, stories of St Patrick and his travels in County Monaghan and other local folklore. 2.15pm - 2.40pm Ceili Dancing in The Diamond and then from 2.40pm - 3.05pm Comhaltas Baile Mhuineachán and then from 3pm the St. Patricks Day parade kicks off from the Lower Courthouse Carpark making its way around the town and finishing off back behind the Lower Courthouse Carpark.
Cllr Bennett says this year's theme for the parade is "Monaghan Folklore" and she says it all comes down to the support of the local community and the businesses in the town,
