Families living with Autism need to be looked after in October's budget. The charity 'AsIAm' is calling for an increase of €25 a week for those on disability and carers allowance.
In its pre-budget submission its also seeking an increase in the carers support grant and the eligibility of the home carer tax credit to be extended to include single parents.
CEO of 'AsIAM' Adam Harris stated, "The disability allowance and other disability payments places many people into poverty. There's a reality that people on disability allowances are being asked to live on much much lower payments at time of inflation. We're seeking an additional €25 euro per week for the disability allowance, carers allowance and the domiciliary care allowance."
