Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys TD, has announced an additional €100 per child in Child Benefit Payments will be paid today to support 650,000 families with the Cost of Living.
The additional support means that €240 per child will be paid this month in respect of over 1.2 million children.
Child Benefit Payments totalling almost €300 million will be received in families’ bank accounts this morning.
The increased Child Benefit payments are part of a package of measures secured by Minister Humphreys in February and are in addition to the €2.2 billion of supports provided for in Budget 2023.
It's set to benefit 650 thousand families across the country with 19,000 of them across Cavan and Monaghan.
Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys says "Child Benefit is an extremely important income support that reaches hundreds of thousands of hardworking families. I’m deeply conscious of the difficulties families are facing right now in meeting their bills."
“And so, I’m pleased to confirm that I have co-signed the regulations along with Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Paschal Donohoe, which will put this €100 increase into effect."
