Over €1.8 million in extra funding has been announced for local laneways.
The funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development was announced this morning and will go towards non-public roads leading to farmland or public amenities.
€559,254 was announced by Minister Heather Humphreys for the local counties earlier this year.
Today's extra funding sees Monaghan receive the most locally at €1.05 million - one of the largest allocations in the country. This takes it's total to €1,326,223.
It's followed by Cavan which is getting an extra €830,000. It's total now stands at €1,119,389.
The funding has been welcomed locally but there are calls for changes so the scheme is included in the Department of Transport's remit.
