The Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee says "excellent cooperation" between the Gardai and PSNI is helping to tackle border crime.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, the Minister highlighted how a cross border taskforce was producing results.
Minister McEntee says the taskforce is currently examining the types of criminality that is taking place which includes smuggling and people trafficking as wells as burglaries and drugs offences.
She highlighted how a plan is currently being devised on how best to bring those involved in border crime to task.
The Minister added that 1,000 additional Gardai will be added to the force next year and that will make a difference to policing in the border region.
