A charity run is taking place this weekend to remember a popular Cavan man who passed away last year from a cancer diagnosis.
Vincent O Rourke from was best known as one of the best at driving tractors working diggers building sheds welding and making anything that involved steel.
All proceeds from Sunday's event will go to the Cavan/Monaghan palliative care fund.
Vincie turned sixty on 2nd of February last year and he decided to have a party not for himself but to raise money for Drumlin house and Cavan Monaghan palliative care and got a total of over 6000 euro for the two charities.
His brother Dessie said if there was anyone in need he would have helped them out and nobody would have known about it only the people involved.
Dessie O' Rourke says Sundays event is not just about raising funds for the great charity but also about raising awareness around cancer in his late brothers memory.
Vincie had great time for palliative care as he had seen the work they do when his mother needed their services 20 years ago and many people since that so it was mentioned by a few of his friends at his funeral that we should organise a tractor run in his honour and a great way to make some badly needed funds for this great cause palliative care.
So that’s what is been done on 26th of march from St Brigid’s Church Laragh.
Registration starts 11.45 and the run commences at 1 pm. Trucks Tractors Cars motor bikes Cyclists and walkers are all welcome. 20 euro entry fee and there will be refreshments a raffle and a auction when everyone gets back to the church and all proceeds is going to palliative care
