Eugene Murtagh is to step down as chairman of Kingspan later this year.
He founded the company in 1965 and served as CEO of the insulation giant until 2005.
Independent non-executive director Jost Massenberg is to be appointed as the replacement at the company's next AGM.
The news comes as Kingspan announced its results for 2020 with a full year profit of more than €500 million, despite a fall in revenue.
CEO Gene Murtagh said a reduction in activity in April and May was partially offset by a strong recovery at the end of the year.
