ESB says Cavan and Monaghan are "among the worst areas affected" by storm Éowyn. Northern Sound contacted ESB on behalf of the many listeners who have no electricity and/or water and are relying on their local radio station for information.
In a statement, ESB said as of 3 o'clock this afternoon 12,750 customers in Cavan and Monaghan remain without power on the day six of the aftermath of Storm Éowyn. "The counties are among the worst impacted areas following the unprecedented storm," the statement reads.
ESB said their crews working in Cavan and Monaghan are not only being supported by international crews like those from Austria who arrived to work in Cavan yesterday but, is also being "bolstered" by ESB staff from other parts of the country and even, former staff. "Our teams have also been bolstered by colleagues from the south and east of the country, as well as skilled retirees," the statement reads.
As frustration grows among residents as night time falls on the sixth day of disruption, the ESB statement thanked the people of Cavan and Monaghan for their patience: "We acknowledge the disruption to family and commercial life this causes and thank customers across both counties who remain without power for their patience as our crews work to safely restore power," ESB said.
