ESB crews will be working through the night to restore power to Cavan homes.
As of 6pm, around 1,000 customers throughout the county were without power.
736 were in the Mullagh area alone.
61 properties in Carrickaboy are without electricity, as are 20 in Tunnyduff, 16 in Cavan town and 13 in Belturbet.
ESB powercheck says 187 people are suffering an outage between Lough Gowna and Aughnacliffe and could be waiting until Saturday.
Power in the rest of Cavan should be back by lunchtime tomorrow.
70 thousand homes and businesses across the country are without power this evening.
The ESB says it will restore power into the night, but some customers in the south, west and midlands won't have electricity restored, particularly Cork and Tipperary.
A yellow rain warning is in place for the entire country until 5am while a yellow wind alert is in place for eight counties in the east and south.
