Plans to demolish part of the Erne Palais building in Belturbet and replace it with homes have been appealed.
The case has been referred to An Bord Pleanála after Cavan County Council approved the development in early June.
Erne Palais Ltd had been granted permission to partially demolish the former dancehall and replace it with two apartments, three two-storey houses and two bungalows.
The main façade of the building, which is a protected structure, would be retained under the plans.
The Council granted approval last month but that decision has now been appealed by local resident Brian McDermott.
Concerns over traffic and a potential impact on a local playground and parking were raised during the planning process with the Council.
An Bord Pleanála is expected to make a decision on the project by October.
The building was at the centre of the "Save the Palais" campaign in 2018, after the local authority announced plans to knock the building and replace it with social housing.
The building was extensively damaged in a suspected arson attack that September and has lain derelict since.
