Eowyn to intensify in Cavan-Monaghan from late tonight

Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel said during waking hours Cavan and Monaghan will see heavy rain in "the late night hours". It may even present as sleet or snow.

The Northern Sound region can expect winds of up to 180 km/hr as Storm Eowyn tracks across Cavan and Monaghan overnight. Eowyn is expected to intensify in the early hours of tomorrow morning while most of us are asleep.

However, Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel said during waking hours Cavan and Monaghan will see heavy rain in "the late night hours". It may even present as sleet or snow.

The winds will pick up and as they strengthen throughout the night they will also bring more heavy rain with them. Cathal Nolan told the Joe Finnegan Show this morning that Eowyn is a "generational" storm "of the ages":
