Enterprise Ireland is hopeful it can post even stronger figures in the year ahead after recording its highest jobs gain last year.
Companies supported by Enterprise Ireland increased net employment by almost 12,000 in 2021.
There was employment growth of five percent in the North East, with more than 18,000 jobs filled in EI-backed companies.
The increase across the North West was nine percent, with the employment of close to 6,800 people.
