Four parishes and community organisations in Cavan and Monaghan have been approved funding to assist with their energy costs. In Cavan, the Diocese of Kilmore (R.C) is to receive €7,628, while the Parish of Rockcorry is to receive €200.
Meanwhile in Monaghan, the Parish of Carrickmacross is to receive €1,860, while Bawn Area Community Group is to receive €200.
The funding is being delivered under the Community and Voluntary Energy Support Scheme (CVESS). To date the scheme has assisted hundreds of groups across the country with their energy, including dozens in Cavan and Monaghan.
Announcing the funding, Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, said she was "delighted" to announce the fifth tranche of successful applicants .
Minister Humphreys explained the importance of the scheme in ensuring that community and voluntary organisations and charities have been supported to meet the unprecedented energy costs they faced.
