It's the end of an era as Cavan's popular Multisound store is set to close its doors for good next month. The business has been at the heart of the local community for the last 36 years, with proprietor Noel Tierney citing that it will be the interaction with customers that he will miss the most. Speaking on today's Joe Finnegan Show, Mr Tierney said that he felt now was the appropriate time to "move on."
Despite the resurgence of vinyl in recent times, the local businessman also outlined his concerns for the industry. According to Mr Tierney, it has been a "difficult time" for small record shops in small areas, with fears that it could soon be "lights out" for the majority of small stores. With the popular store sets to close its doors next month, Noel Tierney paid tribute to the support his business has received over the last 36 years.
"The amount of people that I've met and had long conversations with not just about music, but politics and sport," Noel explained. "There's been a huge amount of time spent just shooting the breeze with people and I'll miss that terribly because I've met some really good characters and interesting people. I'll certainly miss that part of things greatly."
