The Emyvale Road from Monaghan has reopened following a serious road traffic collision yesterday evening.
A man in his 90s was seriously injured in the incident which occurred on the N2 at Drumgeeny at 7pm and involved a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The injured man was initially taken to Cavan General Hospital for treatment but has since been transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where his condition is being described as 'critical'.
The N2 road was closed in Drumgeeny to allow for a technical examination which was conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators.
Meanwhile, Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Road users who have camera footage - including dash-cam - and were travelling on the N2 at Drumgeeny between 6:30pm and 7:15pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
