A north Monaghan retailer says all shops along the border will lose out because of increasing alcohol prices.
The new minimum pricing laws comes into effect today and means a standard bottle of wine cannot now be sold for less than 7 euro 40, and a can of beer for less than 1 euro 70.
However similar adjustments won't be made in Northern Ireland until 2023.
