Extensive damage was caused to the building after the fire broke out in 2019

Emyvale Garda Station is set to reopen on Monday next the 31st of January.

The north Monaghan village has been without a functional garda station since a fire in 2019.

Extensive damage was caused to the building after the fire broke out in the early hours of October 28th.

Modular office accommodation - which has been installed by the Office of Public Works - as a temporary measure pending the restoration of a permanent station in Emyvale will re-open for public services on Monday.

Meanwhile, planning has been underway on developing the new garda accommodation, after the fire-damaged building was demolished.

Two proposals on a permanent solution were to be finalised, however, Covid-19 delayed the decision making.

Last February, it was confirmed that modular buildings would be brought in as a temporary measure.

The Office of Public Works (OPW) confirmed to Shannonside Northern Sound at the time that the planning application for the modular would be issued.

That has now been installed and An Garda Siochana expects business as usual in Emyvale from Monday.
