Emyvale Garda Station is due to open by the end of the year.
The north Monaghan village has been without a functional garda station since a fire in 2019 caused extensive damage to the building.
At a recent Monaghan JPC meeting, Sinn Féin's Brian McKenna asked when the station would be open and enquired about the opening hours.
Superintendent Pat O'Connell said "some work had been delayed due to bad weather", but added he was hopeful the modular building would be "open for business before the end of the year".
Regarding opening hours, Superintendent O'Connell said it would be discussed with the local community.
And while he acknowledged there is a limited number of gardaí based in Emyvale, Superintendent O'Connell says they "will be helped at the start by Monaghan gardaí".
