The closure of banks in rural areas has made older people feel "excluded" from the financial sector.
That's according to Celine Clarke who is Head of Advocacy and Communications with Age Action Ireland.
The Monaghan native believes a fear of scams and a mistrust in the online banking system has caused older people to hide money in their property instead of lodging it into a bank.
Speaking to Joe Finnegan earlier today, Ms Clarke said it was "very worrying" that older people felt this was the best option.
She added that "nobody" should feel excluded from financial services because they can't do it online, and believes the system "could and should" do better.
