Eirgrid has again said an overground line is the only option for the North-South Interconnector.
Strong local opposition remains to the project which would see hundreds of pylons built across Cavan, Monaghan, Meath, Tyrone and Armagh.
Campaigners have called for the line to be placed underground or construction will not be allowed to go ahead.
A number of reviews have been carried out but all have recommended using the overground option.
Councillors in Cavan this week restated their opposition to the project as currently set out, while TD Brendan Smith has called for another review to be carried out.
