Eirgrid has "finally come to the realisation that you can't move an immovable object", according to a Meath Senator.
Regina Doherty was speaking in the Seanad this morning when she was asked about the possibility of undergrounding the contentious North-South Interconnector.
Eirgrid this week announced plans for a new project linking Kildare and Meath with a number of options - including placing that interconnector underground - being examined.
Senator Doherty said she never had confidence the North-South Interconnector would progress when first announced and now she has even less confidence.
