Eir has rejected claims that it was unable to fix a broken landline in Cavan because there was "no wire in stock".
At a recent Cavan County Council meeting, John Paul Feeley branded Eir a "disgrace" and a "farce" and claimed it failed to fix the landline because it had "no wire in stock".
He said the situation was "laughable" and sought COMREG to investigate and called on the Minister for Communications, Eamon Ryan, to intervene.
However, in a statement to Northern Sound, an Eir spokesperson said there was "no shortage of wire or materials".
The spokesperson added that the issue "was caused due to a fault on the customer's line and a pole needed to be replaced, all of which was in process and had since been resolved and service restored".
Speaking to Northern Sound, Councillor Feeley says reiterated that an Eir customer care employee stated the delay could be the result of an inadequate amount of available wire and added that Eir "needs to up their game when it comes to fixing faults":
