A Monaghan councillor has called for a new footpath to connect Scotstown to Ballinode.
At a recent Monaghan MD meeting, Cathy Bennett complimented the County Council for footpath replacement works in Scotstown.
It saw upgrades to 550 metres of footpath from the Scotstown complex to village.
However, she added that a new footpath linking Scotstown village with Ballinode should be "high on the agenda".
Speaking to Northern Sound, Councillor Bennett said it would allow children to easily use the amenities in both areas:
"It would be a great development for the area and would connect the two villages," she added.
"It is something that is needed and should be considered under the Active Travel Plan.
"Monaghan Co Council has committed to investigating the matter further and to see if funding can be sourced for the project."
