The keys of the new Holy Family School in Cootehill are expected to be handed over in the coming days.
Education Minister Norma Foley visited the school today as the finishing touches were being put to the building.
Minister Foley was welcomed to the Holy Family School with a song dedicated to her this afternoon.
Today's visit was one of a number she's carried out in Cavan and Monaghan in recent days, having visited Coláiste Dún an Rí in Kingscourt this morning after approving a major new extension there.
Work is almost complete in Cootehill and students will begin their studies in the new building in September, with July Provision taking place in the new building also.
Principal Rachel Moynagh says it's been a long wait but it's almost over:
Minister Foley praised those who worked to set up the school 50 years ago and those who have continued to develop it:
181 students will take their places in the classrooms in September so all that remains is the official opening.
