Cavan General Hospital have issued a reminder to the public to use alternative pathways due to the current high volume of patients in A&E. Hospital management say that the Emergency Department is experiencing high volumes of patients.
A statement issued said that people are being advised that the Emergency Department is experiencing high volumes of patients and remains busy following the Christmas period and its expected to remain busy into the New Year." The statement covers both Cavan and Monaghan General Hospitals. In addition, the hospital is managing multiple COVID and Flu outbreaks.
Hospital management say that the ED is still available if you need emergency care but they would appreciate your support in using alternative pathways for non-emergency care e.g. GP, Pharmacy and Minor Injuries Unit in Monaghan Hospital. The notice was previously issued last week, however patient numbers remain high following the weekend.
