The decision to increase the pay for the incoming Secretary General of the Department of Health "stinks to the high heavens", according to a local TD.
Speaking at the Public Accounts Committee this afternoon, Sinn Féin's Matt Carthy questioned why the salary is increasing by €81,000 to €292,000.
The role is currently being filled by Robert Watt, who was Secretary General of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, on an interim basis.
He's receiving the former salary of €210,000.
Members of the PAC were today addressing correspondence when Chair Brian Stanley said it was no closer to answers on who decided to increase the salary.
