Six million euro worth of drugs has been seized and 500 people are before the courts, since the establishment of 'Operation Stratus' in Drogheda. The Garda operation was launched in 2018, in an effort to tackle drug related crime in the area.
A public meeting between the Policing Authority and Garda Commissioner has heard in that time, one thousand drug related incidents have been detected.
Gardaí say it's resulted in dismantling several organised crime gangs, with Commissioner Drew Harris describing the past situation as a "bloody feud" which stretched from North Dublin to Drogheda.
