The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, has warmly welcomed the announcement.
“I am delighted that this significant level of funding is being provided to clubs across Cavan and Monaghan today under the Sports Capital Programme," she continued.
“These grants are supporting a wide range of sports including GAA, soccer, rugby, tennis, handball, athletics and much more.
“These grants will allow local clubs to carry out vital upgrade and development works which will benefit communities across both counties.
“I want to congratulate all of the successful clubs and wish them well with their work.”
Deputy Niamh Smyth said the Programme was the "primary vehicle" for Government support for the development of sports and recreation facilities and the purchase of non-personal sports equipment throughout the country.
"I'm delighted to see such a strong focus in supporting grassroots sport in communities," she added.
Deputy Brendan Smith said the allocation was the "largest nationally" to date from the Programme.
"Substantial funding has been provided for clubs throughout Cavan and Monaghan and great credit is due to each organisation on the preparation of detailed applications," he continued.
Senator Joe O'Reilly, meanwhile, highlighted how engagement in sports not only helps keep young people healthy, but also builds confidence, independence and promotes team building.
"This important Government funding will greatly benefit sports clubs across Cavan over the coming year," he continued.
"It is a real lifeline for teams, clubs and organisations here in Cavan."
Senator Robbie Gallagher also welcomed today's announcement and wished recipients across the constituency well over the coming months.
