Senior Council management in Cavan and Monaghan received almost €55,000 in expenses last year.
Freedom of Information figures released to Northern Sound News shows it's over €5000 less than the previous year.
The management team in a local authority consists of the Chief Executive and directors of services, who oversee the overall running of the county council.
Like elected Councillors they can recoup expenses for subsistence and travel.
Of the two local authorities in the Northern Sound region, Monaghan had the highest expenses bill.
In 2019, €31,000.70 was claimed by management. Travel accounted for over 83 per cent of receipts. Total expenses were down by €4,334 on 2018.
In Cavan, €23,552.87 was claimed by senior management last year. The 2018 figure was €24,607.99 - €1055.12 higher.
