Almost €400k has been announced for Cavan Town and Monaghan Town under the Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme.
€199,020 will go to Cavan Town and €199,341 for Monaghan Town under the scheme. The funding is being provided under the European Regional Development Fund Regional Programme and was developed by the Northern and Western Regional Assembly working in collaboration with the Department of Housing, Heritage and Local Government.
26 towns across the country are set to benefit from this €5 million scheme. This Programme aims to support Local Authorities and local communities to re-imagine and revitalise town centres through the renovation and re-use of publicly owned vacant and derelict heritage buildings.
The scheme places a particular emphasis in regenerating towns and villages and various government funded schemes are enabling old and derelict buildings to be brought back to use. Cllr Aine Smith says this funding is a very welcome announcement for the region.
