A €3 million investment in student accommodation facilities has been announced for a local Teagasc College.
Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue recently turned the sod on the Ballyhaise College project, which he says will "future-proof" the site.
It's the latest part of a ten year development plan that was created for the College in 2013.
Minister McConalogue described Ballyhaise College as a "jewel in the crown of Teagasc educational services".
He added that he looks forward to seeing the works commence and says it's important that students have "modern, on-site accommodation facilities".
The €3 million investment will replace the existing accommodation facilities that are currently in place.
Speaking to Northern Sound, the Agriculture Minister said the investment will ensure that Ballyhaise College "continues to be at the centre of agricultural education":
