€38.8M has been announced for national roads and greenways across Cavan and Monaghan.
The Department of Transport announced the major funding earlier for national roads across the region. €10M is being allocated for the Corduff to Killydoon roadworks on the N55, while €4.4M is also being allocated for the N54 road from Butlersbridge to the border.
Funding of €3.6M will be invested on the N3 on the Whitegate to Maghera stretch. The N2 Clontibret to the border has received an allocation of €2.5 million, while the N2 Ardee to south Castleblayney bypass sees an investment of €600,000 for the purposed allocation in 2023. Virginia bypass has been given an allocation of €2 million under this announcement by the Government today.
Deputy Brendan Smith said that this very substantial funding will enable a very comprehensive programme of improvement works to be carried out on our primary and secondary roads in both counties. Meanwhile local TD Niamh Symth says this is great news for the region.
