Approval has been given for a significant extension to Bailieborough Community School.
Education Minister Norma Foley made the announcement this morning.
The Development will consist of four new general classrooms, a multimedia room and a science lab and prep area.
Over €2 million is expected to be spent on the project.
The school first opened in 1982.
News of the extension has been welcomed by local TDs Niamh Smyth, Brendan Smith and Heather Humphreys and Senator Joe O'Reilly.
