The Government has announced over €2.2 million for works to improve homes of older people & people with a disability in the region.
It's part of a €75m fund for Housing Adaptation Grants announced this morning.
Locally, the Department of Housing will spend €1.2 million on works in Cavan, with another €1 million in Monaghan.
80 per cent of the funding will come from the central exchequer, with 20 percent from County Councils.
The announcement has been welcomed by local TDs Brendan Smith and Heather Humphreys and Senators Robbie Gallagher and Joe O'Reilly, who says works will be able to progress quickly:
