Over €17.5 million has been announced for national road projects in Cavan and Monaghan.
However, that figure is slightly down on the last local allocation.
This funding, from the Department of Transport, will go towards the maintenance and improvement of the national road network in the region.
Cavan is to receive just over €10.5 million next year, down from €10.8 million.
Monaghan meanwhile will receive €7.1 million, €600,000 less than what it received this year.
A breakdown of the projects to be funded is expected to be released later today.
There have been calls for an increase in the allocation for local and regional roads in the two counties.
An announcement of those allocations is expected in the new year.
