Over €1.8 million has been granted to schools in the Shannonside Northern Sound Region under the 2021 Summer Works Scheme.
Minister for Education Norma Foley announced this morning that 31 million was being allocated to schools across the country.
The 2021 Summer Works Scheme aims to enable schools, whose applications have been approved carry out necessary improvement works.
Cavan is the county in the region which has seen the most applications funded with 10 projects on the list and a funding allocation of €855,298.
In Roscommon 7 schools will benefit from the funding with €355,836.
Longford schools have received €277,811 towards 4 projects, while Monaghan also had 4 projects approved with schools there receiving €221,662.
Finally Leitrim has had 2 applications approved and will those schools will receive €115,356.
Local TD from Cavan/Monaghan Brendan Smith has welcomed the announcement stating that the money will go towards roof repairs at primary level and toilet and other sanitary facilities at primary and post-primary levels:
