Over €1.2 million was paid in car parking fees in Cavan Town and Monaghan Town last year, according to a Northern Sound Freedom of Information request.
And over €210,000 has been paid so far this year between both towns, though car parking fees are currently waived due to the covid-19 pandemic.
Under the recent Freedom of Information request, it's been found that drivers in Cavan Town spent just under €537,000 in parking fees last year.
The figure in Monaghan Town was close to €679,000.
In Cavan Town, drivers spent the most money on parking in September of last year, at €75,900, while August of 2019 saw the least amount spent, at close to €15,700.
Meanwhile, October of last year saw the most money spent on car parking in Monaghan Town, at close to €66,000, with the least spent in February of this year, at just under €45,000.
Pay parking was suspended in both Cavan and Monaghan Town at the end of March due to the covid-19 pandemic.
