Five students from Coláiste Dún an Rí have been selected to represent Ireland at a prestigious global entrepreneurship event in Tokyo. They're taking part in the the SAGE World Cup where they have been invited to showcase their groundbreaking invention, the RUST or Rubbish, Utilisation, Sorting, Technology - bin.
The road to Japan started last summer when they took part in Ireland's Young Social Innovators programme during their transition year. The RUST bin, is an automated waste-sorting bin designed to ensure proper disposal of rubbish, significantly aiding recycling efforts and reducing environmental impact. The SAGE World Cup provides a platform for young social innovators to present their entrepreneurial solutions to global challenges and involves teams from all over the world.
As they prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, the students are seeking support to cover the costs of their journey, including flights, accommodation, and food for the five-day event. Any business or members of the public who would like to support this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for local students should visit https://www.way2pay.org/Donations/aid/79924.
