A Dublin teenager with a disability has expressed his thoughts on how accessible public transport and facilities are in Co Cavan.
James Casserly, has always had a keen interest in travelling and after doing his own research, he felt the difficulties experienced by those with disabilities and their families when travelling was not documented enough.
As a result, the eager teenager came up with the approach to travel across 32 counties access the situation for himself.
Speaking to Northern Sound, James said the approach was not to go out and criticize companies but if he encountered a challenge to be proactive about it and have a conversation on how to make things better for society as a whole.
In relation to his visit to Cavan, James revealed that some of the shops were difficult to access due to steps, and that aisles were quite full of products which left limited space for a wheelchair or walking aid to get through.
In a wider context, his mum Vicki who is accompanying James on his travels said that footpaths and curbs were a concern, adding that the more rural it gets the more challenging it becomes.
