A driver who was arrested on the N3 on suspicion of drink driving has received a term of imprisonment and was disqualified from driving for a total of four years.
On the run up to Christmas last year, the Cavan Roads Policing Unit encountered a driver on the N3 who swerved towards the patrol car.
The car then left the scene driving in a dangerous manner.
On being stopped the driver resisted arrest and failed to provide samples for analysis at the station having been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
According to Cavan Gardaí, the Court case was finalised recently and the driver received a term of imprisonment and was disqualified from driving for four years.
As a result of the incident, local Gardaí are appealing to our road users in the run up to Christmas not to drive while under the influence of drink or drugs.
