Drumlins Park Wind Farm, near Newbliss in Co Monaghan, has taken delivery of its first wind turbine components. The 18-metre-long tower sections were transported overnight through Monaghan Town and Newbliss Village to minimise disruption to local traffic.
The Drumlins Park Wind Farm remains on track to enter commercial operation in 2024 and will consist of eight wind turbines generating up to 48.8MW of renewable energy. The wind farm will be capable of generating enough renewable energy to power around 34,000 homes and offset 58,000 tonnes of carbon per annum, making a significant contribution to Ireland's Climate Action targets.
Commenting on the first delivery, Energia Renewables Head of Construction, Patrick Tierney said this was a "significant milestone" in the construction of Drumlins Park Wind Farm and now means that they are one step closer to generating green electricity on site and helping to drive the transition to Net Zero.
He added that the company is "committed" to ongoing engagement with the local community, and is encouraging anyone with questions to contact them.
