A driver who caught the attention of Gardaí in Cavan Town in the early hours of Saturday morning has been charged with offences from that night and offences on St. Stephen's Night in Gowna.
Gardaí noticed a car being driven in a dangerous manner in Cavan Town at the weekend and subsequently spoke to the driver. An oral fluid sample taken from the driver was positive for cannabis. A search of the car uncovered a small amount of illegal drugs and a knife.
After being arrested and taken to Cavan station the driver refused to provide a further sample to the attending doctor. The driver was charged to court in Dublin on Saturday where they faced being disqualified from driving for four-years because of their decision not to provide a sample as per the law. Gardaí say the driver was also charged for offences committed in Gowna on Boxing Day.
