The Dromone community in Co.Meath says they are very upset following the theft of a 100 year old pump from the area.
A cast iron, functioning pump which was restored with council funding and fundraising, was stolen from the cross roads on the Knocklough to Oldcastle road between Wednesday night and Thursday morning this week.
The Dromone Development group had repaired the pump and the surrounding area at a cost of approximately 3,000 euro, and it was since used by the local community on a daily basis.
Fiona Flynn, a member of the community there, says the pump is distinct with its green and yellow colours, and is appealing to anyone who may come across it for sale to get in contact.
She urged people to check where the items they purchase come from, and told Shannonside Northern Sound it’s the communities that are being most effected:
