A number of drivers were caught speeding in Co Cavan following checks conducted by members of the local roads policing unit. The speed checks were conducted on the Ballyjamesduff to Crosskeys road on Saturday evening which is governed by an 80km speed limit. Two drivers were detected exceeding this speed limit and Fixed Payment Notices were issued.
Elsewhere over the weekend a joint checkpoint in Virginia with the Detective Unit from Bailieboro resulted in a motorist being stopped. A roadside drugs test came back positive for cannabis. This driver was arrested and blood samples were taken at Bailieboro Garda Station with results to be obtained from the Medical Bureau of Road Safety.
