The Cavan Roads Policing Unit recently conducted speed checks on the Virginia to Ballyjamesduff Road. This was part of an all day operation into speed detection following on from concerns of local representatives.
A number of fixed payment notices were issued for excess speed in the 80kmph limit. One of these motorists also had no insurance on their car and then failed a roadside drugs test.
The driver was arrested and blood samples taken at Bailieborough Garda Station. The car was detained under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act for no insurance and taken off the road, with a court date to follow for the driver.
