In the first two hours of ‘National Slow Down Day’ a vehicle was detected travelling at 111km/h in a 100km/h Zone in Co Cavan. The incident took place on the N3 Lisgrea, Virginia. In the first two hours of ‘National Slow Down Day’, GoSafe checked the speeds of 9,410 vehicles, and detected a total of 25 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit. Gardaí across the Northern Sound region are continuing to appeal to drivers to comply with speed limits in order to reduce the number of speed related collisions, save lives and reduce injuries on our roads.
People are being urged to speak with loved ones about the dangers of bad driver behaviour, with 127 deaths on our roads so far this year. Superintendent Liam Geraghty says we need to talk about speeding before it's too late.
