A driver has been caught travelling 40 kilometres an hour above the speed limit in Co Cavan. Gardaí detected the vehicle going at 140km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N3 at Drumbarlom, Belturbet. National Slow Down Day came to an end at 7am this morning.
Between 7am and 9pm last night, GoSafe checked the speeds of 130,529 vehicles and detected 229 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit. In addition to the GoSafe figures, Garda members have detected an additional 269 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit during the same timeframe.
