A Cavan man who will celebrate 12 years of sobriety later this year, is to host a drink and drug-free festival at the end of this month.
Gearoid Teevan believes "the time is right" for such an event, as it will provide a "safe space" for people and families to come together in a sober manner for some light-hearted fun and entertainment.
The inaugural Healing Bridges Festival will take place from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th of August, just outside of Milltown, in Co Cavan.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, the organic farmer says the country is "full" of concerts and events that are alcohol supported, and believes now is the time to try something different in a positive way.
He added that he has "no doubt" that when people experience this gathering, it will show them a "new" and "exciting" way of connecting to each other:
