Delivery company DPD is to officially open its new distribution centre in Cootehill, Co Cavan later today.
The 15,000 square foot centre will be capable of handling one million deliveries across the year.
This new depot is three times the size of DPD's existing centres in Cavan and Monaghan and will significantly increase the company's capacity in the region.
In a statement to Northern Sound today, it said the increase in online shopping since the beginning of the pandemic has seen an increase of 300,000 deliveries across Cavan and Monaghan over the course of 2020.
DPD says it further expects to pass the 1 million mark in the local counties this year.
The new distribution centre in Cootehill will be officially opened by Minister Heather Humphreys today.
